On-going opportunities
Volunteers are the core of the Friends. Their valuable contribution enables us to continue the work on our plant collections and the horticultural programs we offer to the public. As an active, member-driven organization with no paid staff, volunteers are always needed and very welcome. There are several ways that you can volunteer and help, while learning about the Hort Farm and gardening and meeting new friends along the way.
Program Facilitators
When our programs are held at the Hort Farm, volunteers are needed to work with board members to open the Farm lecture hall, greet people as they enter, and hand out feedback forms at the end of workshops.
Program Committee
Throughout the year, volunteers are needed to help with programs like our Bloom Time, Annual Plant Sale, and Apple Festival.
Quarterly Newsletter
Contribute a quarterly column, report on workshops, events, and articles of interest, etc.
Volunteer Coordinator
Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to keep track of our volunteer list, contact volunteers when needed for various programs, find new volunteers, and help train them.
Fund-raising
On occasion, we will launch a fund-raising drive and volunteers are needed to bring all the elements together.
Marketing & Promotion
Throughout the year, we have ongoing promotion for our programs. If you have expertise in this area, we could use your help as we reach out to more people with advertising, news articles, press releases, Front Porch Forum listings, etc.
