The Friends of the Horticulture Farm is a nonprofit organization of interested citizens, Vermont master gardeners, and horticulture industry professionals working to provide stewardship of the Horticulture, Education, and Research Center (HREC) at the University of Vermont, a 100-acre property in South Burlington, located less than five miles from the main campus. The Friends sponsor programs that interpret the diverse plant collections and educate the general public about gardening, ecological landscape design, small-space food production, and more. The HREC is home to Catamount Farm and the UVM Farmer Training Program, and the nonprofit Branch Out Burlington uses a portion of the property for its tree nursery.
Membership is easy - just click one of the links below. Membership is based on the calendar year and is tax-deductible. Friends receive a quarterly newsletter, free admission to most events, and early admission to the popular Annual Plant Sale (which means great deals on the good stuff). Many local businesses have a matching gift program that will stretch your contribution dollar. Please contact your employer for the appropriate forms and send them to us when you renew your membership or give a donation. Some businesses will match your contribution, dollar for dollar to keep your gift going even further.
