Horticulture & Gardening Programs
Each year, the Friends of the Horticulture Farm present programs on pruning techniques, native perennials, lilacs, crabapples, and rhododendrons. Other programs that may be included are herbs, grapevines, houseplants, vegetables, shrubs, hedges, diseases and pests. In addition, we have two festivals, Bloom Time in the spring when many of our collections are in full bloom, and our Apple Festival in the fall, when the apples are ready to be picked.
WORKDAYS are days when volunteers gather to help with work on the collections—weeding, pruning, dead-heading, etc. Volunteers also will have the opportunity to talk with curators of the collections, ask questions, and learn about the maintenance and growth of the plants while meeting new friends. This help enables us to continue the preservation of the collections.
