The Trees in our Forests

In Vermont, trees and forests frame our lives. Trees provide shade, beauty, wildlife habitat, and climate mitigation — among other benefits — and when combined into forests form natural communities of astonishing complexity and importance. Join Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester, for a walk through the UVM Horticultural Farm and a discussion of the role that trees play in our lives and in the health of our planet.

Presenter’s bio:  Ethan Tapper, Chittenden County Forester for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation since 2016, works with and advises landowners, loggers, foresters, conservation organizations and municipalities on how to understand, manage, and take care of Vermont’s forests. A native Vermonter and UVM graduate, he has worked as wilderness guide, horse logger and consulting forester in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.  As County Forester, he is particularly interested in the role that forests and forest management play in building healthy local and global communities.
