Gardens of England

Sissinghurst Castle in Kent and Gravetye Manor in East Sussex are two of the most celebrated estates in England. Landscape designer Charlotte Albers will share photos from her 2022 trip and talk about what makes them so extraordinary: pergolas and old walls with climbing vines, towers and moats, orchards, organic vegetable gardens, water features, statuary, and layers of plantings reflecting the current wave of naturalistic design as stewarded by head gardeners Troy Scott Smith (Sissinghurst) and Tom Coward (Gravetye Manor). Find inspiration for your home garden by looking at the best British displays and learn how both estates are preserving their unique heritage at the same time they embrace change.

This program will be presented on Zoom.
