Passionate Pursuit of Growing Roses

  • UVM Horticulture Center (map)

Lifelong rose enthusiast Kristine Struminsky returns to share fundamentals about the different types and classifications of roses, as well as proper selection, planting, and maintenance. If you're frustrated with growing roses, you'll learn some tips to help eliminate that frustration. If you're new to growing roses, you'll leave with simple strategies, knowledge, and the confidence to get started.

Kristine was raised in a Zone 6 rose garden in Rhode Island. When she arrived in Vermont, she was often told to “move elsewhere” if she wanted to grow roses. Instead, she has spent the past eight years experimenting and learning how to adapt to an ever-changing colder climate, and she continues to champion the ability for anyone to successfully grow the “Queen of flowers.”
